ART AFTER BARS ~A  program that proves ART DOES WORK. It’s an exhibition of art work by former inmates from around the country who have found an alternative life in art.

Developed by Art Behind Bars, ART AFTER BARS provides support for former inmates, in their process of reform and recovery.  Program director Lynne Vantriglia said “It’s through the effort of people like Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, and many others that make our program possible.”  As well as Dr. Rachel Williams from the University of Iowa, a nationally-recognized expert in the field of prison art who is studying the program.

Now in its tenth year, Art Behind Bars is on its way to South Carolina to start a parallel program modeled after the art-based community service projects here in Key West that have raised more than $52,000 for non-profit organizations nationwide.
